Su Guan - Chinese Veg: Reviews & Ratings
Such a great find for vegan options! After a visit with David at Academia Gallery and a search for vegan restaurants, I decided to have dinner at Su Guan. While everything on the menu looked tasty, I went with a favorite dish of mine that is bibimbap. It was the perfect blend of rice, vegetables, tofu, and spicy paste. The young lady server was kind and attentive. Along with a beverage, I find the price of €17 meal a great value. I will be back for sure on my next visit.
We’re not even vegetarians, but this place was incredibly delicious. Every dish came out piping hot (a sign of true freshness and fast service), and all the spices were perfectly balanced. If you don’t like spicy food, you can ask them to adjust the spiciness. I especially recommend the soy sauce eggplant, the Beijing sauce noodles, and the tri-colored dumplings. All of the dishes we ate though were so good that we returned the next day! The owner and waitresses are also extremely kind and accommodating. If you want truly authentic Chinese food, then you MUST come here. We tried other Asian restaurants in Florence and this one was by far the best.
Decided to take a break from Italian food. This was amazing! Tofu with vegetables over rice noodles was spectacular. The kimchi dish was also so good and flavorful. Also got the steamed dumplings which were yummy. Fast service, helpful server. Would definitely eat here again,
Fantastic Chinese food, we had minimal expectations but I have to say we were blown away by the food here. We had the spicy dish with the lotus root and we honestly could have had 3 for how tasty it was! Tip: order some plain rice so you can soak up that amazing sauce. We had another dish with tofu which was also delicious but that first one was unbeatable. We will be back!
If you are tired of eating pizza and pasta, this is the place for the vegetarians! We had one tofu dish and another eggplant, potato and bell pepper dish, both of them were very tasty and had a good portion size. One portion of rice was enough for two of us. I would definitely recommend!
This might be the best Chinese food I've ever had. And all vegetarian/vegan? Amazing! Very fair prices and a charming ambience to top it off. The corn in particular was exploding with flavor.
Tough to find vegetarian options in Italy and this is definitely an place worth trying. Fantastic choices and good service. For anyone missing Chinese vegetarian dishes, come and try this out. Food tends to be more northern Chinese flavours and stronger in flavours.
Came here on our first night in Florence wanting a break from pasta, and so glad we did. The place is a bit beaten up, and the seating is uncomfortable and the tables too small (it's a small place so I get it- we ordered a a lot of food though and couldn't fit it on!) The service is efficient, but not overly friendly- to be honest I quite enjoyed that but I think it might put some off haha! The food is absolutely worth it either way though. The black seitan was phenomenal- one of the best seitans I've ever had, the rub on it was just incredible. The kimchi pancakes were really good, never had anything like this before, and the vegan duck with hoisin had an amazing batter. The tofu and chives dish was also really good.

Su Guan - Chinese Veg offers a fresh take on traditional Chinese cuisine, right in the heart of Florence. Specializing in vegetarian and vegan dishes, this restaurant delivers authenticity with every bite. Located on Via della Scala, it blends rich Asian flavors with carefully selected, plant-based ingredients, making it a perfect spot for both vegetarians and curious food lovers.
The menu is a vibrant journey through diverse Asian textures and tastes. Standout dishes like the Vegetarian Duck capture the essence of classic Chinese cooking without compromising on ethics or flavor. The Ravioli Tricolore Al Vapore and Ravioli Misti showcase the mastery of dim sum, with delicate, steamed dumplings bursting with fresh vegetables and savory mushrooms. These dishes balance perfectly with the comforting warmth of the 桂林米粉 (Guilin Rice Noodles) and the tender Spaghetti Di Riso Alle Verdure E Legumi, highlighting the versatility of rice-based creations.
What also sets Su Guan apart is its fusion flair, incorporating Korean influences such as Bibimbap and Kimchi Pancakes. The Bibimbap, praised for its perfectly harmonious mix of rice, tofu, and spicy paste, offers a punch of flavor while remaining wholesome and satisfying. The Korean Kimchi Pancake and its spicy variant with kimchi add a delightful crunch and fermented zest, invigorating the palate with each bite.
Beyond the main dishes, the thoughtful touches elevate the experience—smoky Black Tea Bubble Tea provides a refreshing contrast, while the Seaweed Salat adds a subtle umami edge that complements the richer entrees. The Melanzane In Salsa Di Soia (eggplant in soy sauce) is another highlight, praised for its balanced spices and silky texture that appeal even to those less accustomed to spicy or intense flavors.
Service here mirrors the care invested in the food. Attentive, warm, and accommodating, the staff ensure that each guest feels welcomed and satisfied, tailoring spice levels and dish suggestions seamlessly. Many diners, whether vegans or omnivores, leave impressed by the freshness, speed, and authenticity of their meals.
In sum, Su Guan - Chinese Veg stands out as a beacon of innovative, flavorful vegetarian Chinese cuisine in Italy. It’s a place where tradition meets conscious dining, and every dish invites you to explore familiar yet exciting Asian culinary landscapes. Whether you seek a comforting bowl of tofu over rice noodles or a bold, spicy lotus root dish, Su Guan promises a rewarding and memorable meal.
